I'm excited to meet you but before we get to work, we'll need some introductions. My name is Jemaal Alexander and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), practicing in the State of New York and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) practicing in the State of New Jersey.
I work with young adults and working professionals that are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. These concerns include but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, PTSD, stress, self esteem, racial/cultural issues, addiction and more.
Therapy, as you may already know, can be an arduous journey and I'm here to aid you as we uncover unconscious derivatives, process unresolved trauma, and find ways to heal, be present and assured in your strength.
"Practice make progress" - is a motto that is transcendent in my work as we strive towards acknowledging your positive strides forward.
I utilize an integrative approach that meets each client in the here and now, helping to develop and expand coping skills, increase insight, awareness and acceptance in pursuit of overall mental health wellness. My practice is rooted in Psychodynamic Therapy and incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and more as I adjust to the needs of each individual.
